Are you tired of the cheesy flirting tips you read in the checkout line at the grocery store? Well, here are some tips that come from experience and science.
1. Be funny. Laughter resets the attention span. Did you botch your approach? Was it awkward? You know what? If you can get her to laugh after that, all will be forgiven. Don’t be a clown, though. Be playful. And don’t have fun at her expense. Don’t be mean-spirited. Have fun with her. Let her in on the joke.
2. Play off things she says or does. This is known as “passive” flirting, or “trigger banter”. If you’ve ever been around a guy who “always” seems to have the right thing to say, you know how attractive women can find this. It’s a sign of a quick wit and intelligence. Here’s a secret, though. You don’t have to just make stuff up on the spot. If you plan carefully you can come up with great “spontaneous-looking” responses to many common situations, and look brilliant when they happen. Example: a woman bends down to tie her shoe in front of you . . . you can say “wow, you’re the third woman this week who has tried to propose to me. I’ll have to get back to you later with my decision.” If you don’t like that one, make up your own and pull it out when the circumstance arises.
3. Be confident. Don’t “act” confident. Just be confident. How do you do that? Well, get some interests other than women. Achieve something. Don’t “neeeeeed” her to like you. Other than that, being confident is basically just being comfortable in a woman’s presence.
4. Lean back. Don’t lean in very often when you talk to a woman. It makes you look way too interested in what she’s saying. You need to be the one with exciting stories and opinions. If you make yourself more interesting, you can make her come to you.
5. Subtly imply that she’s being naughty. How early you do this depends on the situation and the woman. With some women in some situations you can use innuendo right away. And with others you have to wait for a more advanced stage in the relationship. But eventually, you want her to take on a “naughty” self image. Example: Bait her by saying something ambiguous. Get her to give you a smile. Then say, “I wasn’t saying THAT” (as if she’s got a dirty mind).
6. Talk slowly. Slow it down, buckaroo. Check yourself frequently, and just slow it down. No, even slower. Seriously. Make them wait on your every word. Make them give you their complete attention. Draw them in to what you’re saying. Let it register as you speak. Slow flirting is very sexy. Try it. You’ll see.
